Sarah Jessica Parker’s Former NYC Townhouse Is on the Market for $29.9 Million

Sarah Jessica Parker’s performance of Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City and And Just Like That is so iconically New York that fans can hardly traverse a tree-lined street of Greenwich Village or a classic New York townhouse without thinking of some scene from the show. If you’re one for nostalgia, you can walk in Parker’s fabulous designer shoes as her former townhouse just went on the market for an eye-watering $29.9 million.

Parker purchased the home in 2011 with her husband, Matthew Broderick, and renovated the space—though they reportedly never actually lived there, instead using it as an extra closet (could she be any more Carrie Bradshaw in real life?). The couple sold the townhouse in 2015 for $18.25 million, according to The New York Times.

The brownstone is located just one black from Fifth Avenue in Greenwich Village at 20 E. 10th Street.

Built in 1864, the five-story red Greek Revival-style townhouse has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and two half baths across five floors. While it maintains stunning architectural features original to the house—including pocket doors and seven woodburning fireplaces—Parker and Broderick refurbished the 6,800-square-foot space with a lacquer-black foyer entrance, a 1,000 bottle climate-controlled wine cellar, and a bilevel garden that can be viewed from a Juliet balcony on the parlor floor. There’s also a sitting area and library on the third floor.

But you’re really paying for location here, as it’s situated just one black from Fifth Avenue in Greenwich Village at 20 E. 10th Street. This house might be an ideal option over another brownstone in New York’s West Village, which has drawn droves of Sex and the City fans— so much so that it made the news on March 19 when the owner of the home reprimanded a crowd of tourists, saying, “I try not to do this but sometimes people cross the line and I can’t. Thank you so much for understanding, have a great day. And remember, this is not empty, it’s a private home, and it’s not Carrie’s, it’s mine.”

For a casual $29.9 million, you can live like Carrie—sans the crowds, hopefully. But with all the closet space.
