“Emily in Paris” Season 5 Will Take Place in Paris and Rome

Emily Cooper is trading her croissants for cannoli—at least part time. Netflix’s Emily in Paris is officially returning for season 5, and this go, our favorite marketing ingénue is splitting her time between the City of Lights and the Eternal City. Yes, Emily is officially going Roman, but don’t fret: she hasn’t updated her Instagram handle just yet. Here’s your definitive guide to what’s next for Emily in Paris.

Where Will Season 5 Take Place?

Production begins in Rome next month, with the cast and crew soaking up la dolce vita before heading back to Paris later in the summer to wrap up filming. Creator Darren Star promises that while Rome will play a starring role, Paris remains Emily’s home base.

What’s the Plot?

This new season picks up right where the last left off: Emily, played by Lily Collins, is sent to Rome to help launch Agence Grateau’s new Italian office. While Paris remains her home base, Rome is now a major part of her work—and her love life. The finale of season 4 saw Emily choosing to put herself first, heading to Italy with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), the heir to a luxury wool dynasty. Their budding romance is set to be a central storyline, with creator Darren Star hinting that Marcello brings out a more balanced, genuinely happy side of Emily: “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition,” he says. “We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

But the Parisian drama isn’t going to disappear. Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), Emily’s neighbor and longtime romantic complication, realized at the end of last season that he doesn’t want to let Emily go. He’s prepared to fight for her, setting the stage for a classic Emily-in-the-middle love triangle. Meanwhile, Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) and other fan favorites like Mindy (Ashley Park), Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), Julien (Samuel Arnold), Luc (Bruno Gouery), and Antoine (William Abadie) are all set to return. Camille Razat, who played Camille, will not be returning as a series regular.

When Will Season 5 Be Released?

There’s no official release date yet, but with production running through summer 2025, season 5 is rumored to hit Netflix screens later this year (yes, that soon).

So, whether you prefer your heartbreak with a side of baguette or bruschetta, Emily’s next chapter is set to deliver.
