For nearly a century, Hotel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes has played host to film festival guests and celebrities Alikelain Delon, Catherine Deneuve, Robert De Niro, and Matthew McConaughey. Known simply as “Le Majestic” to its fans, the palace hotel sits astride the famous Boulevard de la Croisette, adjacent to the film festival at the Palais des Festivals. And now, 99 years after its opening, Le Majestic enlisted designer and architect Isabelle Stanislas to freshen up the place with a full renovation of rooms and suites.
Melding Art Deco inspirations from the 1930s with a subtly nautical palette, Stanislas suffused her vision with meticulous craftsmanship, designing bespoke furniture in soothing seaside tones of blue and orange. Rooms and suites offer a respite from the hustle and bustle of the Croisette below, but allow for full access to the vibrant energy of the beach with a flick of the wrist. (The black-out curtain controls are conveniently bedside.)
There’s also a recently-opened 4,500-square-foot Haussmann-style Christian Dior suite, the only one of its kind in Europe from the fashion house. After check-in, guests can enjoy lunch or dinner at the newly-opened fish and seafood restaurant, Ciro’s Cannes, or tuck in for steak au poivre at Fouquet’s, with specialty cocktails by Bar Fouquet’s manager Emanuele Balestra. Now, how do you say booked in French?
