Everyone knows that a home renovation is a taxing process, but no one understands that more then Jackie Siegel, dubbed the «Queen of Versailles,» who has been in the midst of a remodel for more than 20 years. However, the American socialite just announced on Instagram that her sprawling mansion is (finally) nearly finished.
Siegel, who rose to fame after Lauren Greenfield’s critically-acclaimed 2012 documentary The Queen of Versailles, has made it her mission to transform the sprawling Florida estate that she owns with her husband David Siegel. The home, which stands at whopping 90,000 square feet, includes 14 bedrooms, 30 bathrooms, a pub, and a 35-car garage. There is even rumored to be a faux private jet on the grounds.
Once completed, the mansion would be considered the largest and most expensive single-family home in the United States, but the project has been plagued by setbacks, including hurricane damage, financial troubles, and family tragedy. It even went on the market for a brief time, listed at $65 million, but now it seems that the Siegels are determined to finally finish their massive project.
In glimpses on Jackie’s social media platforms, it seems that the goal is to truly create an American Versailles on the outskirts of Orlando. In the newly-released video, we were able to catch glimpses of gold-adorned ceilings, massive crystal chandeliers, and even an elevator. In the background, however, the mansion seemed very much still in construction-mode, with tarps on the floors and scaffolding still in place. Once completed, the home is estimated to be worth $100 million. Here’s hoping the Siegels push the project to the finish line, so they can enjoy their Marie Antoinette-inspired dream without the sounds of construction all around them.
