A “New-Collectible” Hand-Crafted Eco-Conscious Furniture Collection Debuts
Seeking the next best collectible pieces for the home? Look no further than Louisiana-based Doorman Designs. Founder Alex Geriner has hand-crafted a new collection brimming with equal parts creativity and eco-conscious material innovation. Utilizing scrap wood and sourcing upholstery made from coconut fiber, the designer seeks to preserve the natural environment from where he gains insights and inspiration for his work. Alex recalls, “We kept throwing out small random sized pieces of wood that I knew we could reuse… We use scrap wood in the column base and some cut-offs are incorporated into the tabletop.” Doorman Designs’ newly refreshed website features all nine new pieces.

Straight from Sweden, a Striking, Colorful Collection of Homewares
The latest capsule collection by Marimekko’s Artist Series features London-based Swedish artist Petra Börner. Known for a gestural approach to line-making, Petra has created four exclusive artworks that explore the anatomy of a flower. “Nature is a recurring theme in my work—obsessed by its messy harmony and continuous movement,” says Petra Börner. She worked closely with Marimekko’s own textile printing factory in Helsinki to translate her original artworks onto homewares, textiles, tabletop and apparel. From $39, marimekko.com
Ahead of Salone del Mobile, a Milan-Inspired Furniture Collections Explores Traditional Craft
Los Angeles-based furniture and décor brand House of Leon debuts a new collection inspired by co-founder and creative director Jordan Neman who notes, “I strove to underscore the beauty of each element [in the Milan collection] through the juxtaposition of old and new.” Like a contemporary design object positioned against a crumbling palazzo, these sensibilities also unite in the strong material mix presented. Stainless steel pedestals, hide armchairs and sumptuous upholstery you can really sink into define a sophisticated and chic ensemble. Lower Manhattan is Abuzz with an Exclusive New Club in a Former Spice Market
Brooklyn-based interior designer Lauren Mishaan sought inspiration from 1930s Parisian elegance and London nightlife culture at Chez Margeaux, the newly opened private member’s club on the west side in lower Manhattan. From an over-the-top luxe library, indulgent Caviar salon and extravagant dining room, bespoke furnishings and details abound. Case in point: custom wallcoverings designed with de Gournay, exclusive rugs designed by Lauren’s in house studio, exotic monkey motifs and animal prints as well as locally made furnishings are all utilized to dramatic effect. Lauren notes, “We were given the freedom to dream big and execute a project filled with opulence and layers of detail.” Acclaimed chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten helms the elevated and distinctive menu for the property, creating a lush haven for those in the know.
